Mobile, Consumer Products, Product Management and the Miscellany
  • Users are spending more time on their mobile (mobile browser and apps combined) and it is growing every month. (Source)
  • Mobile apps are driving engagement than mobile web pages (Source).
  • Facebook is leading the engagement metric (441.3 minutes); Pintrest is growing (52.9 minutes) and Google+ is not in the top 5. (Source)
I believe the engagement is higher with mobile applications because they provide better user experience by leveraging the platform. Though mobile web applications can provide similar functionality, it lacks the engagement.
An interesting observation: Android platform utility apps like Gmail, Google Search and Android Market made into top 10 in audience traffic. On iOS, it is 3rd party applications like Pandora, YouTube, Weather that dominated the list.
